The Design Law No. 39/2000 came into effect on June 3, 2000. However, the Implementing Regulations are yet to be issued. The only available means of protecting design is publishing cautionary notices in Arabic and English in local newspapers.

5 years from the filing date of the application. If the owner so requests, and upon the payment of the prescribed fee, the registration shall be renewed for 2 further consecutive periods of 5 years.
A grace period of 6 months shall be allowed for the late payment of the renewal fee on payment of the prescribed surcharge, otherwise the registered industrial design shall lapse. There shall be no restoration of lapsed registered industrial designs.
Two (2) or more, up to a maximum of one hundred (100), industrial designs may be the subject of the same application, provided they relate to the same class of the International Classification or to the same set or composition of articles.
Where several persons have jointly created a design, the right shall belong to them jointly.
YES, it may be assigned or transferred by succession.
YES, such assignment shall have no effect against third parties until such recording is effected.
