The Design Law came into effect; however, the Implementing Regulations are yet to be issued. The only available means of protecting design is publishing cautionary notices in Arabic and English in local newspapers.

Novelty and Distinctiveness.

• Particulars of the owner/designer, i.e. name, address, nationality and nature of business;
• Brief description of the design with two sets of formal drawings; and
• Particulars of corresponding foreign registration, if any.

The applicant within 30 days from the date of receipt of notification may complain regarding the decision. In the event that applicant does not receive an objection accepting the registration after 6 months from date of application- this means the registration is implicitly rejected.
